About me
I’m a figurative artist based in London.
I am mainly self-taught, but have had some training via workshops & residencies. In 2015 my love for Baroque painting took me to the Charles H Cecil Studios in Florence where I did an intensive course on sight-size portraiture. I returned to this tradition on a part-time basis at the Sarum Studio in Salisbury, where I worked from life under the instruction of Nicholas Beer. This has served as a basis for much of my thinking when I consider technical aspects of painting.
For an in-depth focus on anatomy, I spent the summer of 2018 at the New York Academy of Art for a residency.
I have a keen interest in capturing people, their dogs, and also Hampstead Heath as a subject, which is where I have enjoyed many dog walks over the years, and continue to do so.
